We Are Community Makers
Canal Creative is proud to host We Are Community Makers, a community-centered art exhibition featuring work from every student at Stinson Elementary School in Canal Fulton, Ohio. This immersive exhibit celebrates the role of creativity in shaping identity, belonging, and shared place.
Through student-created artwork displayed throughout Canal Creative, the exhibition invites families and community members to experience Canal Fulton through the eyes of its youngest citizens. Each grade contributes a unique perspective on what makes a community thrive:
5th Grade – Welcome Home: Exploring belonging and what it means to feel rooted in a place
4th Grade – Community: More Than Just Buildings: Examining the relationships, values, and connections that define community
3rd Grade – I Am the Community: Self-portraits that highlight identity and personal impact
Mrs. Duncan’s Class – Heart of the Community: Centering care, connection, and shared humanity
This event transforms Canal Creative into a living example of place-making—where art becomes a tool for connection, storytelling, and civic pride. By elevating student voices and inviting the public into a shared creative space, We Are Community Makers strengthens community bonds and reinforces the arts as a catalyst for engagement.
