You don’t have to set out to “advance a priority” to be part of this work. If the statements of belief behind the Cultural Plan reflect the spirit of what you do — if your efforts bring people together, spark imagination, honor tradition, or create a more welcoming community — then your story is part of this larger movement.
By sharing these stories, we can celebrate the incredible work already happening, inspire others to get involved, and show how arts, culture, entertainment, and recreation are shaping a more vibrant and resilient future for Summit County.
We’ll use submissions to celebrate local creativity, spark new ideas, and show how much energy and momentum already exists across Summit County.

On Thursday, April 8th 2021, ArtsNow, Akron Civic Commons, Akron Zoo, Black Artist Guild, Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition, The University of Akron, the Sojourner Truth Statue Committee, Conservancy for the CVNP, and Summit County Historical Society hosted Paul M. Farber PhD, Director of Monument Lab.
The Akron Civic Theatre celebrated the completion of its Staging the Future capital campaign with an announcement Friday, April 16th that the nonprofit has raised $9 million to transform the 1929 theater, exceeding its $8.5 million goal.
