Kavé Coffee Bar has partnered with The Barberton Community Foundation, PPG, ArtsNow, Lake 8 Movies, and Daly's Appliance to paint a large-scale Barberton History mural of the O.C. Barber Mansion. We have included elements of the residence's two owners O.C. Barber and A.O. Austin in an effort to preserve and educate the community on our local history and the town's founding. We saw a need to educate our youth, as much of the community does not know that the mansion even existed. We worked with the Barberton Public Library and Barberton Historical Society to craft this educational experience as Kavé is determined to preserve our history and ensure that it is remembered for generations to come. This three-year long project was completed in August of 2026 and unveiled with a community celebration.

Our mural was designed by Curtis Goldstein and painted by Arris Cohen. It was completed on the walls surrounding the coffee shop and is located on our rooftop patio, but visible from W Tuscarawas Ave and Lake Anna. The mosaic style art piece features the O.C. Barber Mansion, The South Gatehouse, and Barn No. 2 (Austin's Electrical Lab). Also included are Barber's car and Austin's electrical towers and plane that he used to test the effects of electricity on aircrafts. Every pattern within the mural features details such as wallpaper or designs from the home, nods to the grounds and the owner's favorite flora, and traditional cultural elements of our city's heritage.
